Blog Bat Around - My Flag In The Soil Of The Second World
Man, when I posted this topic for the bat around, it was something that I had wanted to hear about for a long time. We always receive posts from everyone, but we never really receive why the posts are coming in the first place. Im not talking about why they are posting on the blog, but why they are collecting what they are collecting. For me, I think I have a few labels I would use to describe myself, and every of them are things that have shaped my collection, my blog posts, and even my wax busting. Wha

A Star Has Fallen - Flat On It’s Face
Okay, hmm, what can I say, here’s a lesson in what not to do in the t-shirt industry. Justin’s email was brief to the extreme, he included a few photos, but that was about it. The t-shirts are far from inspiring, and rather than brush the guy aside and let him make the mistake of setting up business and watching it fail, I think it’s only fair to show him why his range won’t make it. Sure he says it’s launching in 2009 so there’s still time to keep face, but somehow I don’t think he’s going to

I Dyed My Hair Red
And I hate it! Thankfully, it's not permanent and should wash out soon. I think I might let some Head & Shoulders soak in for a while and coax it out faster (a tip I learned from my pal, Sunny. Got any others?). I've been a blonde my entire life so this is shocking for me. I don't recognize myself! Of course, I'm also down with a chest icy and sore throat, so that doesn't help my attitude. I'm not wearing any make-up in these photos, not even lip gloss. Maybe once I'm made up and back to

GANGLAND BAILOUTS
The impending meltdown, many years in the making, of the Big Three American automakers is every over the news these days. Reading Assignment: Jim Jones
I, like many of you, spend lots of time every day doing things that really aren’t that important. Watching HGTV, updating my Facebook picture (which I’m embarassed to admit), reading home Beautiful, scouring eBay for cheap couture jeans, changing the wallpaper on my laptop… I know you do it, too. (You men out there can substitute my girlie time-wasters for mannish ones.) Don’t worry, I’m not going to beat up on you about it. But I am going to ask you complete a reading assignment. Firs

The Menace that is Deflation: 5 Specific Areas Where Deflation is Already Showing up.
Be very afraid of the “D” word now making the rounds in economic circles. Today the Federal Reserve hinted that we are now tipping into the prospect of deflation. This is very bad from their perspective. In fact, it is a horrifying prospect for the Federal Reserve since every action they have taken in this decade has had the desired outcome of inflation. Why would the Fed want inflation? Inflation would make our structured debts cheaper as time goes by since the price level of most items i

"Apache Junction City Limits" 6"x12" (Click here to bid on eBay)
I finally came up with another name for one of these Superstition paintings. And I also got off the 11x14 format and painted this 6x12. Since the city of Apache Junction is defined on it's northern and western borders by the Superstitions, I thought why not call it city limits. As an artist, I've always thought the people of Apache Junction have an amazing landmark to identify with. I never thought I would live in a city named Gilbert. Click on the image for a larger view.

Timothy Callahan on Morrison, Legion
Timothy Callahan on Morrison, Legion November 19th, 2008 Timothy Callahan was just one of the many folks I met at Baltimore Comic-Con back in September. Coming out of that meeting we decided to do an email interview regarding his two books and criticism in general. Callahan is a savvy critic who clearly knows pop culture and the comic book genre better than many (as shown frequently at his blog, GeniusboyFiremlon) and is firm in his convictions. Before launching into the interview, here’s t
